The town
Franschhoek sits in a valley closed in by mountains on three sides, which gives its estates some of the most dramatic backdrops in the Cape. The town is known for its restaurants and boutique hotels, so it suits couples who want a smaller, food-focused wedding with guests staying within walking distance of the village.
Many guest houses will hold a block of rooms for a wedding weekend. Ask about the date by which unbooked rooms are released, so you are not charged for rooms your guests do not use.
