What the venue fee actually covers, outside-supplier rules, wet-weather plans and the other questions that change the real cost of a Winelands venue.
Two Winelands venues with the same headline price can end up costing very different amounts once catering, furniture and supplier fees are added. These questions help you compare like with like.
Cost and what's included
- What exactly does the venue fee include: furniture, linen, crockery, staff, and setup and breakdown?
- Is catering in-house only, or can we use an outside caterer? Is there a fee for that?
- Can we bring our own wine, or must we buy from the estate? Is there a corkage fee?
- Is there a minimum spend or minimum guest number, and does it change in winter?
The day itself
- What is the wet-weather plan for the ceremony?
- What time must music stop, and when must guests leave?
- Can we have the venue for setup the day before?
- Which suppliers are on the preferred list, and which are not allowed?
Guests and logistics
- How many guests can stay on site, and how far is the nearest guest accommodation?
- Is there parking and a shuttle drop-off point?
- Is the venue accessible for older guests and wheelchairs?
- What deposit is due to hold the date, and what is the cancellation policy?
